Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!
If you missed my previous video, you can see it here! In that video, I go over the inspirations, design decisions, patterns I will be using, and materials for this costume. I first started making costumes through cosplaying Disney characters, and after dipping my toes into making a historically inspired Disney last year (I'll link those videos down below), I decided to do it yet again! And I might... continue down this road... because I'm really enjoying it.
I picked Jane Porter because she was always one of my favourite characters and I would like to try making a bustle! So here we are. This first vlog is about making the bodice. I go into quite a bit of detail because I personally find it really helpful when I watch sewing videos to see all the steps and how people handle problems (I hope that's okay!) Now that the bodice is complete, I will start on the skirts. Yes, plural! I hope to have that video ready and a completed costume at the end of a couple of weeks :) Also if you can guess the song I was singing so loudly pls let me know, I'm really curious ????
This video covers making the 1880s bodice, using a Truly Victorian pattern. Here are some of the things I go over: interlining, pinking seams, adding boning to seams, collar, shawl collar, how to make fabric buttons, and handsewn buttonholes.
Thank you for watching!
