Sewing a Magical Winter Cloak from Thrifted Blankets

Today's Sewing Vlog is the making of a magical cloak. This isn't based on any particular garment (like from Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, etc) but definitely gives off some fantasy world vibes. Which I'm glad for because with the red faux-wool exterior it started off looking Handmaid's Tale esque.

I happened to acquire a cloak pattern in about 3 sizes too big for me that had a center closure, but decided to make the pattern (roughly) as it was so that the seams for the arm holes were slightly more forward and that the closure had some overlap. Another great thing about this project is that a majority of my materials were thrifted. The outer red layer and the insulation were both blankets from GoodWill. The lining was a sheet from GoodWill. and the fur collar was from GoodWill in the scarf section! I believe all the bedding was even the $1 colour of the week. That with the buttons made the materials total around $10.The final result being a VERY warm cloak / cape.

Hello friends! I'm Eden, I'm a vintage fashion and lifestyle enthusiast who is also Significantly vegan. My channel is lifestyle based with mostly the housewife life of cooking, cleaning, sewing etc with a vintage and vegan twist.

The reason I'm vegan mostly falls under vegan for health. Allergies include Sulfa (Common preservative in meat and dairy) and peanuts. You cannot "debate a vegan" out of food allergies.
